The barrel is one of Pilates' great teachers: it opens the chest, restores the natural curve of the spine, and strengthens the powerhouse, back and shoulders. The Instep Barrel System™ gives you three of them in one patented design.

Choose the 4, 6 or 8 in barrel to match the body in front of you, from a gentle first extension to a deep stretch. Handcrafted from Baltic Birch and solid American hardwood, finished inside and out in Beechwood or Walnut, it's as beautiful as the rest of your Artistry® studio.

MATERIALS

Constructed from 13-ply Baltic Birch and solid American hardwood for strength, stability, and durability. The frame and individual barrels are finished inside and out, with no exposed staples. Each barrel features premium Boltaflex® vinyl upholstery for abrasion resistance and easy cleaning. Standard black upholstery provides a clean, professional finish.

Shipping & Delivery

Domestic orders placed with Standard Ground Shipping will ship via Fed-Ex, UPS or USPS Monday-Friday (excluding holidays and office closures) and will arrive within 7-10 business days, pending credit card authorization and verification. Orders going to residential addresses may be delivered on Saturday. Standard Ground shipping is not available for Alaska, Hawaii and U.S. territories.

Instep Barrel System™ FAQ
Which barrel size should I start with?

Start with the smallest arc that lets you move with control, usually the 4 in, and work toward the 8 in as flexibility and strength build. Your instructor can help you choose.
Can I use the barrels on their own?

Yes. Each barrel has dual handles and can be used on the mat, on its own or with the base.
Do I need the Instep if I have a Spine Corrector?

They complement each other. The Spine Corrector is one fixed classical shape. The Instep gives you three arcs and a base, so it adapts to more bodies and exercises.
What is it made of?

The Instep Barrel System™ is constructed from 13-ply Baltic Birch and solid American hardwood, with both the frame and individual barrels finished inside and out for a clean, refined appearance. Premium commercial-grade Boltaflex® vinyl upholstery provides durability, comfort, and easy cleaning.
Why Baltic Birch?

Baltic Birch is built from thin layers of birch, each laid with its grain running across the one before. That cross-laminated construction holds its curve, resists the warping and splitting solid wood can develop over time, and holds hardware securely. Natural wood varies slightly in tone and grain, so every piece is unique.
Can I use it at home?

Yes. Peak Pilates® recommends learning under a certified Pilates instructor before practicing on your own. Your 2 months of the Pilates Project app keeps you practicing between sessions.
